BIO provides on-site school hearing and vision screening for districts and private schools in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties — completing a typical school in one day. A typical class in K, 2, 5 or 8 is finished in roughly 20 minutes for both hearing and vision. All testing is performed according to the most current regulations and guidelines for the State of California.
Hearing Testing
- School hearing tests performed by certificated school audiometrists
- Testing is done in sound treated mobile units
- Group screening of up to 16 at a time
- Manual audiometric retesting for thresholds
Vision Testing
- School vision screening performed by credentialed school nurses
- Acuity determined using Sloan letters and Lea symbols
- Distance vision and near vision screening performed on each student, color vision screening done on 2nd grade boys
Reporting
- Testing completed on pre-printed two-part forms
- Results left at school at completion of day’s testing
- Comprehensive reporting of results for district and for each school are provided at end of the testing schedule or as requested
- Importable data to update District Health Database
